Organizing a KID’s bedroom

Situation

Carlo's room had become too difficult to keep tidy. He had way too much stuff; he couldn't reach his board games stacked atop the chest of drawers; his bookshelf felt like it was about to fall on his head; his bed was in the least comfortable spot in the room and he refused to sleep in it.

Solution

We upgraded his bed and moved it to the opposite corner, far from the door - a spot that felt cozier and safer. We changed the rug. We gave away some toys and books he had outgrown, and got rid of the book display that took a lot of play space. We broke down the leaning tower of Pisa into units. We made the most of all the storage elements and surfaces, leaving no surface available for a kid to pile up mess on.

In a nutshell, we made sleeping and playing there possible and attractive. We made all the toys and games accessible, while making all the storage elements feel grounded and grounding, instead of looming like before.

Creating a home office into a storage/guest room

Case2-01.jpeg

Situation

Daniela has two little boys who like every child keep outgrowing their clothes and toys, and a husband who needs quick and easy access to an ironing board on a daily basis. As a result, this beautiful room that was initially intended for guests had gradually turned into a things-to-give-away storage room with an ironing board standing in the middle. In the meantime, Daniela began needing a place to work from home.

Solution

Deciding to work with me helped her start the process, and when I came over, she had already given away a lot things that had been sitting there for months. Together we packed more stuff to give away.

We decided on ways to allow her to have a desk there while making sure her husband's morning routine could keep unfolding effortlessly - and while still being able to have guests sleep over.

Situation

When an Upper East Side apartment hasn't been inhabited for a little while and its owners want it to become a nice and easy but welcoming pied-à-terre.

Solution

You change the bathroom tiling and all the hardware for a beautifully simple result. And since the apartment gets a lot of light, you go for a calming deep blue for the bedroom, with clean lines Mid-Century furniture and lighting.
